This problem is that YouTube not only pitched that it was an easy way to upload video, but that it was the easiest way to monetize video. So the people built a business around the model. Now that YouTube wants the big boys and more important the big ad money, and they’re changing the rules. They have all the power, so there isn’t much anyone can do. I am not slagging YouTube for wanting to grow up into the world of Hollywood streaming services; it’s far more lucrative than hosting oddball cartoons and old game reviews. Where they did go wrong is encouraging people to create their business on shifting ground.
