Can I blame a glitch for not putting this up until after work?
Tax Crash - Government IT is in quite a state. While the military and intelligence services seem to be at least recruiting smart people, the actual day to day functions need a significant overhaul. I wonder if like the ACA site, this is because the contracting business is dominated by people who know how to work the bid system rather than people who know how to do the job. Either way, someone in DC could make a lot of hay by modernizing the Federal government's IT sector.
Obama Doesn't Need Luther Anymore - In what will undoubtedly end up being Alex Jones' next business model, Jordan Peele shows off how easy it is to create a video making someone say whatever you want. I can't wait to see when Hillary and Bill admit to orchestrating Pizza Gate with Osama Bin Laden on an episode of Info Wars.
America's Export Industry - Reuters looks at the expansion of America's arms deals under Trump. While many other Presidents have slyly pushed the defense industry, Trump is far more open than his predecessors.
Don't Label Me Man - Paradoxical branding is nothing new. This is the country that repackages counterculture and sells it to teenagers. Even this isn't a new phenomenon; they're replicating the exact message that store brands use. You're not innovating when you're reproducing the same method that bagged Fruity Stones uses to tell me they're the same as a box of Fruity Pebbles.
Attic Shows Are The New Basement Shows - An interview with Brenden Canty in the promotion of his new band with Joe Lally, of course, leads to questions on the status of Fugazi. While this isn't as hyped as saying a reunion is imminent as an earlier interview with Joe was, Canty doesn't say know. He also says they're still playing all the time.
Everyone Knows What's Best For You - Frank Zappa with a prescient point about creeping American theocracy.
