Can we get Google to ask TensorFlow to scan the Internet for terrible hot takes?
Green AI - Granted, we spend a lot of time talking about the various ways that AI is going to kill us all, here is it being used for something positive. Google's TensorFlow is being used to help listen for the sounds of deforestation. I assume that some people think that an always listening AI is dystopian enough for some people.
GDC Reveals Splatoon Origins - Yoshi, Rabbits, and the designs behind Splatoon. It turns out original IP was the way to go, as the game became a hit.
It's The Culture - The Conversation explores why Danes top world happiness rankings and its cultural roots. When people talk about trying to make the US more like Scandinavia, you'd need a change in what we value.
Data, Not Clickbait - One of the more dangerous things about the current media environment is how much of our media is driven by opinion. Wrong assertions can snowball into trends that don't even actually exist.
Breaking Horses - The primary education system exists to create good factory workers. That was its original mission. The University system in the US has pivoted hard into a similar role for white-collar workers. This is a stupid way to try and boost enrollment and makes the college less not more valuable than a basic technical college.
Why They Matter - We tend to gloss over why scientists are so prominent. The Conversation gives a rundown of the French mathematician's contributions and how they're still used today.
