From Nusciance To Monument - While it's basically a billboard for a gated community that stuck around long enough for everyone to love it, the Hollywood sign does show that beloved landmarks don't always start that way. For every planned monument, there's more than a few that happen by accident.
We're The Social Network - We Don't Care Because We Don't Have To - Considering that most of the active users on Twitter see it as a necessary evil, this might be a little too late. Screaming idiots seem to be baked into the platform, though that isn't entirely Twitter's fault. Our inability to act like adults when given a megaphone is the starting point.
AI Now Taking Our Leisure Too - They invented an AI that can find new exploits in games. The speedrunners on YouTube aren’t in danger of being replaced, but it is disconcerting AI is better at slacking off too.
Next Idea: A Browser Plugin That Replaces "Fox News" with "The Frightened Elderly" - All joking aside I think this kind of thing is helpful. Jargon can often obscure a simple concept in ways that make it seem magical to lay people. Considering the number of people blindly investing in blockchain on little more than hype, it could use the piss taken out of it.
MD5 Hashes In The Terminal - This is more like six years ago news, but if any Mac users need to create an MD5 or SHA1 checksum for a file, you can do it right from Terminal. You can then output it to a file using > and a file name like my_file.md5
