Link - Automation and Jobs
You can't work here Dave
Technology Review - A new report promises that Automation is going to create new jobs as it replaces existing ones, if not more. Though as I understand it the problem has never been that AI will cause permanent unemployment problems, but like any disruption displace people near the end of their careers who are not as easily retrained. Like the era that created the rust belt, you have people who are either not in places getting the newly created jobs supporting automation or are simply not prepared or able to be retrained to do those jobs. So yeah on average you have similar unemployment, but you have a demographic of people who get left behind in the process.
